Current Trail Conditions
February 21, 2014
If you can brave the colder temperatures this weekend, great conditions await you. The Ridge Trail, North Loop, Evergreen and West Hill Loop skate lanes have all been renovated to blend in the new snow. The classic track has also been re-set around all loops (minus the West Hill Loop) and is ready and waiting. Enjoy!
New!! Dogs on Trails Policy
effective January 9, 2014
Due to some issues with dogs on trails and the detrimental effect that this has on recently groomed trails, the club executive committee has implemented an interim policy regarding dogs on groomed trails. As of January 9th, dogs are only allowed on the South System trails.
Member feedback is welcome so please send your concerns to Jeanette, as indicated in the policy letter, or email email@example.com and your comments will be forwarded to the executive committee.
Next full moon is on March 16. Stay tuned for more info...
The Mooseheart Loppet in Edson is on March 1. They have beautiful trails in the forest, a warm cabin and a great spread of food (with big Moose cookies) at the end. A very friendly get together, it is well worth coming out to. The ski area is located on the West side of Edson and is not hard to find. The club will pay for the Jackrabbits who wish to go. We are planning on filling in the registration forms on February 23.
Remember to dress your children in layers, give them a water a bottle, and arrive early enough to wax your skis for our 2 o'clock start. Allow some time for snacks at the end of the session as well. Bunnies and Level 1 run to 3:30 pm and Levels 2 and up last until about 4 pm.
Keep track of your child's skiing outside of Jackrabbit Lessons to try to reach a Snow Goal. Here is a handy form for keeping track. Refer to your Jack Rabbit booklet for more details on Snow Goals.
