Alberta Nordic Cup

Welcome to the Pembina Nordic Ski Club

NEWS FLASH - COURSE MAP NOW AVAILABLE!!!!

Course map is available here.

Volunteers Needed

As you may be aware, Pembina Nordic is hosting a bike race on our ski trails on September 20. If you're not racing, and you can help out for a few hours on September 19 or 20, please contact us at events@pembinanordic.org. Let us know when you're available and whether you have a preference for a particular job. We need help in the following key areas:

Course setup (Sept. 19 - afternoon, or Sept. 20 - early morning) - we'll need help setting up the stadium and putting up course signage and flagging
Course marshalling (Sept. 20 - 3 shift options - 9:30 to 12:00; 11:30 to 2:00; or 1:30 to 4:00) - this mostly involves sitting in a lawn chair beside the trail and marking down numbers as racers pass - you will have a radio in case a racer needs help
Traffic control (Sept. 20 - 3 shift options - 9:30 to 12:00; 11:30 to 2:00; or 1:30 to 4:00) - stopping traffic where the course crosses TWP 494 - you will work in pairs for this, and will have radios for communication
Cleanup (Sept. 20 late afternoon) - anyone who is available can help take down course markings and clean up the site - many hands will make this task pretty quick
Concession - we may be operating a concession (to be confirmed in the next few days) and could use help there if we do

Thanks in advance for your support. This race has the potential to be a good fundraiser for trail development at Pembina Nordic.

Prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers in each category

Pre-Ride …

The course will be open for “official” pre-ride and inspection on Friday at 4pm, and early Saturday morning before the start. Feel free to come out to Pembina Nordic earlier in the summer to check it out. We’ll have a course map posted at the chalet, and all trail junctions are signed.

Sign-On …

All racers must sign on between 8:30 and 9:30 on Saturday morning in order to race. Sign-on will close at 9:30 – no exceptions. Licensed racers must have their license with them at sign-on.

Number Plates …

You will receive an Eagle Point Cross number plate when you sign on. You do not need your ABA number plate.

Food and Water …

Post-race food and beverages will be provided to all racers, but you need to bring your own race supplies. We may be offering food for purchase on-site – stay tuned closer to race day for mor information.

Bikes and Equipment …

Cyclocross bikes or mountain bikes are permitted for this event. All your equipment needs to be in good, safe working condition and you must wear an approved bike helmet at all times.

Mechanical / Feed Zone …

There will be a designated feed zone and mechanical zone in the stadium area near the start / finish. Racers are responsible for their own mechanical work and feed zone assistance.

Camping …

To encourage participation from out-of-area racers, we will have an area near the start finish available for overnight camping on Friday night. Individual campfires won’t be permitted, but there is a large community firepit for everyone to share, and there is a wood stove in the club chalet. If you’d rather bring your RV and camp, we recommend booking a site at Willey West Campground in Eagle Point Provincial Park.
